Summer Update: Sooners Earn All-Star Honors and Titles on AUSL and International Stage

Current Oklahoma Softball players, alums and coaches reeled in multiple trophies and all-star honors during the Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL), Professional Softball League (PSL) season as well as on the international stage this summer. Follow below for a look at OU Softball in the headlines this summer.


Athletes Unlimited Softball League

The Sooners were tied for the most alums competing in the AUSL this year, with 11 earning time in the second year of the professional league. Ailana Agbayani, Sydney Berzon, Rylie Boone, Alyssa Brito, Jayda Coleman, Tiare Jennings, Sam Landry, Haley Lee, Kelly Maxwell, Keilani Ricketts and Sydney Romero all competed in the AUSL this year, while Jocelyn Alo and Kinzie Hansen-McKinzie were also listed as inactives on the league roster. 

Coleman won the 2026 AUSL Championship with the Utah Talons, hitting .326 with eight runs and eight RBIs to bring the Talons to their second title in as many seasons. Romero, who is now the starting shortstop with the OKC Spark, won the 2025 AUSL title. In her rookie year as a pro, Ailana Agbayani earned the everyday starting second baseman role with the Chicago Bandits, helping the Bandits to a runner-up finish.

Romero was named to the 2026 AUSL All-Star Team after having a breakout year at the plate. Romero finished second in the league in RBIs (28), third in home runs (nine), third in runs (32) and fourth in OPS (1.468). 

The Sooners had seven players selected to the AUSL All-Star Cup, a competition running from Aug. 8-30 in Rosemont, Ill. Agbayani, Boone, Brito, Jennings, Landry, Ricketts and Romero were all named to the cup.

 

 

International Cup

Nine Sooners competed in the USA Softball International Cup, while all four coaches on the current Sooner coaching staff participated in the event July 30-August 3 at Devon Park in Oklahoma City. 

Coleman, Brito, Jennings and Kelly Maxwell helped the U.S. Women's National Team earn gold, while Ricketts, Gabbie Garcia and Kendall Wells helped the U.S. Elite Team to a bronze medal finish. Agbayani and Ori Mailo rounded out the Sooners playing in the International Cup, representing American Samoa.

  

Professional Softball League

Three Sooners competed in the Professional Softball League in Abby Dayton, Kierston Deal and Hope Trautwein-Valdespino. Dayton and Deal competed as rookies with the Florida Vibe, with Dayton taking home Rookie of the Year honors as the Vibe finished second in the league. Trautwein-Valdespino was named Pitcher of the Year with the Kansas City Diamonds, fanning 53 while turning in a 2.45 ERA.
