Sooners Share Second Through Two Rounds

NORMAN – The No. 23-ranked Oklahoma women's golf team finished round two of the Landfall Tradition tied for second place with South Carolina. The 18-team event is being held at the par-72, 6,166-yard Pete Dye Course at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C.

 Oklahoma, who sits at 579 (+3) through two rounds, shot a 295 (+7) on the day after a slow start on the front nine. Wake Forest (572;-4) is in first place after firing a 284 (-4), followed by the Sooners and South Carolina (295; -6). Furman (284; -4) and Purdue (289; +1) share fourth at 580 (+4). 

Hannah Wood fired a 73 (+1) to pace the Sooners and finish round two with a share of sixth (142;-2), sinking four birdies on the day. Sophomore Julienne Soo also shot 73 (+1) and is tied for 18th with teammate Ana Ruiz, who played a bogey-free back nine to break even at 72. Both Soo and Ruiz hold a two-round 145 (+1).

Junior Valerie Tanguay shares 26th place at 147 (+3) after recording a 77 (+5) on Saturday. Classmate Rylee Pedigo finished round shot an 84 (+12) on the day for a share of 83rd place at 159 (+15).

Said OU head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell, “We struggled a bit today but played really solid on our back nine. We got off to a rough start and hung in there all day. There is still a lot of golf left to play tomorrow and we are excited at the opportunity to finish strong.”
