NORMAN – Oklahoma men's tennis head coach John Roddick announced Friday that associate head coach Bo Hodge has accepted the same position with the University of Georgia, his alma mater.

“I want to thank John Roddick, (athletics director) Joe Castiglione and (senior associate athletics director) Michael Alford for giving me the opportunity to come to Oklahoma,” Hodge said. “I have learned so much from John and he has made me a better coach and person than I was four years ago. The hardest part is leaving the coaches and players. It was an honor to work with them. I am very proud of what we accomplished at Oklahoma the past few years.”

Hodge joined Roddick's staff in 2012 and has helped the take the Sooners to historic heights during his four-year tenure.

Oklahoma won Big 12 championships in each of Hodge's four years on staff. Each of the last two seasons, Hodge helped lead OU to NCAA Championships finals appearances. This past year, the Sooners won their first ITA National Indoor Championship title.

Hodge was named the 2014 ITA Central Region Assistant Coach of the Year, and also coached the USTA Men's Collegiate Team from 2011-2013.

“I would like to thank Bo for all of his efforts over the past four years,” Roddick said. “He was an integral part of what we accomplished. He has a bright future in coaching and we were lucky to have him at OU. We wish him the best moving forward.”

Said Hodge: “It was a family decision to accept the associate head coach job at Georgia. I am from Athens and UGA is my alma mater. My wife and I are expecting a baby girl in November and we wanted to be closer to our families.”

Hodge played his collegiate tennis at Georgia where he was a four-time All-American (2001-04) and helped lead the Bulldogs to the 2001 NCAA Team Championship. He also spent two years with the Bulldogs as a volunteer assistant coach in (2006-08).
