BATON ROUGE, La. – No. 6 Oklahoma (24-4) saw its season-best 14-game winning streak come to an end Friday night at No. 1 LSU (29-1) in a tight, 1-0 pitchers' duel at Tiger Park.

In addition to the end of Oklahoma's 14-game winning streak, which tied for the 10th longest in program history, the Sooners' streak of scoring at least eight runs in a game ended at 11. It marked the first time OU had been shut out since game two of last season's Super Regional against Tennessee when the Sooners lost 4-0.

Friday night's contest was the 19th all-time for Oklahoma against the nation's No. 1 team. With the loss, OU is now 4-15 all-time against the top-ranked team in the country, including a 3-4 record in true road games.

It was a battle of freshmen in the circle between Oklahoma's Paige Parker and LSU's Carley Hoover. Both pitchers allowed just two hits in the game, but it was Hoover who came away with the win.

Parker struck out eight and allowed one run on two hits and four walks to drop to 10-3 on the year. Hoover, meanwhile, had five strikeouts and just one walk as she became the first pitcher this season to shut out the Sooners. Her record now is 8-1 this season.

Parker had a pair of 1-2-3 innings in the game, doing so in the third and fifth innings. She held the Tigers to their lowest run total of the season and limited LSU to a team batting average of .100 (2-20) after it entered with a team average of .372

Ultimately, after five and a half scoreless innings, LSU notched the only run of the game in the bottom of the sixth.

Bianka Bell, who earlier in the week was named co-National Player of the Week by the NFCA along with Oklahoma's Shelby Pendley, hit her 10th home run of the year on an 0-2 pitch to center field.

LSU threatened to do more in the sixth after an error, hit by pitch and sac bunt put two runners in scoring position with just one out. However, Parker got a strikeout and foul out to keep it a one-run game.

Oklahoma's two hits came from freshmen.

Lea Wodach, who was making her first career start in right field, extended her hitting streak to a personal-best six games with a leadoff single in the third. A sac bunt from fellow freshman Kelsey Arnold got her to third, but Wodach was stranded there.

Nicole Pendley had a one-out single in the sixth inning, but the Sooners were unable to muster a rally as runners were erased on consecutive fielder's choices. The last of which was a hard line drive off the bat of senior Shelby Pendley, which took an unfortunate deflection off Hoover right to Bell at shortstop.

LSU looked like it would open the scoring in the bottom of the second, but freshman Parker showed her resolve by keeping the game scoreless.

Parker quickly got two outs with her first two strikeouts of the game, but walked No. 7 hitter Dylan Supak. Constance Quinn kept the inning going with a single to left field before Emily Griggs walked to load the bases. Parker fell behind 2-1 against leadoff batter A.J. Andrews but got two swinging strikeouts to close out the inning.

Due to rain in the forecast, Saturday's series finale against has had its start time moved up. Originally scheduled for 6 p.m., the game will now begin at 4 p.m. CT.
