Game Notes
Oklahoma now leads the all-time series against LSU, 9-8 ... all five of Oklahoma's losses this season have come against teams ranked 21st or better at the time of the game ... OU is now 4-16 all-time against the No. 1 ranked team, including a 3-5 record in true road games against the nation's top-ranked team ... junior Tori Nirschl hit her second home run of the season ... junior Kady Self hit a solo homer on her 21st birthday

BATON ROUGE, La. – No. 6 Oklahoma (24-5) suffered its first back-to-back losses and its first run-rule setback of the season Saturday following a 10-2, six-inning loss at No. 1 LSU (30-1).

The Sooners got their two runs thanks to solo home runs from juniors Tori Nirschl and Kady Self. Additional offense came from freshman Nicole Pendley, who was 2-2 at the plate with a single, a double and a walk.

The scoring in Saturday's game was a role reversal from Friday night's contest. After neither team scored until the bottom of the sixth in game one of the series, LSU tagged OU starter Kelsey Stevens for three runs in Saturday's opening frame.

A pair of walks to A.J. Andrews and Bailey Landry started the first inning and Bianka Bell, whose home run was the only scoring Friday night, struck again with a three-run blast to center field. Bell's homer prompted a pitching change as freshman Paige Parker came on in relief and retired the next three batters to temporarily quiet the Tigers.

Stevens suffered her first loss of the season after failing to make it out of the first inning. Her record stands at 7-1 on the season.

The Sooners got one of those three runs back in the top of the second when Nirschl hit a one-out homer. The opposite field solo home run was her second of the season, and it trimmed the LSU lead to 3-1.

LSU pushed the lead back to a three-run margin in the third when Kellsi Kloss homered in the third, but OU was again able to get the run back in the fourth.

Junior Kady Self, who was celebrating her 21st birthday, led off the fourth with a solo home run that cleared the fences in left center. Her sixth home run of the season, which came on an 0-1 pitch, trimmed the Tigers' lead to 4-2.

Unfortunately for the Sooners, LSU got back to its home-run hitting ways in the fifth inning when Bell and Sahvanna Jaquish hit back-to-back solo shots to extend the lead to 6-2.

The Tigers then handed the Sooners' their first run-rule loss since April 18 of last season with a four-run sixth inning.

Andrews had an RBI double and Landry added an RBI groundout to make it 8-2. After an intentional walk to Bell, Jaquish had a run-scoring single to left field. Two batters later, with the bases loaded, Sandra Simmons hit a liner off the glove of pitcher Shelby Pendley that caromed away to allow the 10th and final run to score.

It was OU's first run-rule loss since a 9-0 defeat in six innings at the hands of Texas on April 18, 2014. OU hadn't suffered back-to-back losses since dropping the final two contests of a series at Louisiana-Lafayette on March 15 of last year.

The 10 runs given up were a season high for the Sooners, as were the four home runs.

Oklahoma closes out the weekend Sunday in a neutral site game at 12 p.m. CT against McNeese State at LSU's Tiger Park.
