Men's Tennis Announces Spring TV Schedule

NORMAN – The second-ranked Oklahoma men's tennis team announced Monday that five of its matches during the 2015 season will be available live via soonersports.tv and will be aired on Fox Sports Oklahoma. Fans will have an opportunity to watch the Sooners take on some of the best teams in the nation.

“I'm ecstatic about it, and the matches we have on are the ones we want to have on,” head coach John Roddick said. “We've been pushing in college tennis for a while to get more exposure on TV. Often times I've been told it can't be done, so for us to be able to get five matches through our network deal is a fantastic thing for our players, our program and for recruiting. We will have as many on TV as anyone in the country, maybe more.”

The Sooners' Feb. 8 match with No. 44 Alabama will be the first to air. The event will be available live on SoonerSports.tv and will then be broadcast on Fox Sports Oklahoma on Monday, Feb. 9 at 5 p.m.

In what could be one of the best matches in collegiate tennis, No. 2 OU squares off with No. 3 Virginia on Tuesday, March 10. The match will feature some of the nation's best players as Virginia is the only team other than Oklahoma with four players ranked inside the top-50 in singles.

Fans will also have a chance to see great competition in conference play. Roddick's crew will have matches with No. 18 TCU (March 27), No. 9 Texas (March 29) and No. 24 (April 19) Oklahoma State televised during the conference slate.

“It will be a great thing for our team,” Roddick said. “Even for the other teams coming in it will feel more like an event. Anytime there are TV cameras on you see it and it just feels like a bigger thing. It will benefit our team and benefit recruiting in a big way.”

Sunday, Feb. 8 vs. Alabama at 12:00 p.m. aired on Fox Sports Oklahoma Feb. 9 at 5 p.m.
Tuesday, March 10 vs. No. 3 Virginia at 4:00 p.m.
Friday, March 27 vs. No. 18 TCU at 5:30 p.m.
Sunday, March 29 vs. No. 9 Texas at 1:00 p.m.
Sunday, April 19 vs. No. 24 Oklahoma State at 1:00 p.m.

*All matches will be streamed online via SoonerSports.tv and televised on Fox Sports Oklahoma.
