Siegel Wins on Final Day in Athens

ATHENS, Ga. – Oklahoma men's tennis players Austin Siegel and John Milstead wrapped up the final day of play at the 2015 Bulldog Scramble on Sunday.

Siegel, a senior from Tarrytown, N.Y., grabbed his second singles win of the tournament on Sunday, topping Grayson Broadus of Notre Dame 6-1, 6-3. Siegel had missed Saturday's action with an injury. He finishes 2-0 in singles for the tournament.

“Austin did a nice job today of executing and keeping his errors very low,” head coach John Roddick said. “It was a good way to end the fall season for him.”

Milstead faced Brendon Kempin, also of Notre Dame, in the Sunday singles session. The redshirt freshman fell 6-0, 6-2.

The Sooner duo paired to take on Eric Schnurrenberger and Kenny Sabacinski of Notre Dame in doubles, but would fall 7-5 in a tightly contest match. Milstead and Siegel finished 1-2 in doubles for the weekend.

Sunday's action marks the conclusion of the 2015 fall schedule for the Sooners. OU will next take the courts on Saturday, Jan. 16 as they travel to Atlanta, Ga., to take part in the MLK Invitational to open the spring 2016 schedule.
