NORMAN, Okla. – The Oklahoma men's tennis team is set to compete at the ITA All-American Championship, Sept. 27-Oct. 6, at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center at the University of Tulsa.

Featuring the top-ranked players from around the country, the ITA All-American is an annual highlight of the Sooners fall slate.

“We are excited about All-Americans in Tulsa,” associate head coach Bo Hodge said. “It is one of the biggest tournaments of the fall and I am looking forward to watching our guys compete.”

Oklahoma players notched a 29-11 record in all matches played at the 2013 ITA All-American and former Sooner Guillermo Alcorta advanced all the way to the championship match of main singles draw.

No. 3 ranked junior Axel Alvarez, No. 16 ranked senior Dane Webb and 40th ranked sophomore Andrew Harris were all selected for the main singles draw.

The 64-man main draw beings Thursday, Oct. 2 and culminates with the championship match on Monday, Oct. 6.

Sophomore Alex Ghilea and redshirt senior Nick Papac will begin tournament play in the qualifying draw, which begins Saturday, Sept. 27.

The qualifying draw features 16 eight-man brackets, with the winner of each earning a spot in the main draw bracket. Three wins in the qualifying draw will advance a player to the main draw.

OU will also enter two doubles teams at the championship, Alvarez and Harris and Ghilea and Papac. Both pairs will begin in the doubles qualifying draw.
