NORMAN, Okla.—The University of Oklahoma men's tennis team matched its best ever ranking in the International Tennis Association's team ratings this week.
The Sooners are No. 5 in the Feb. 18 edition of the poll.
“We had a good indoor season and a really solid performance at the national indoors,” head coach John Roddick said. “We are proud of where we are, but we also understand that there is a lot of improvement that needs to be made between now and the NCAAs.”
Oklahoma (8-1) started the year with seven straight wins before falling in the quarterfinals of the ITA National Team Indoor Championship to No.4 UCLA.
The ITA releases updated rankings every Tuesday and the Sooners were last ranked in the top five the week of Feb.26, 2013.
The Sooners road to the NCAA Championships continues this Friday when they host Kentucky at 5 p.m. at the Headington Family Tennis Center.
