TULSA, Okla. – The Oklahoma men's tennis team's run at the ITA All-American Championships came to an end Saturday when Andrew Harris and Dane Webb were both eliminated from singles play.

“We had a tough day,” said head coach John Roddick. “We competed well, but didn't get through a couple of really close matches.”

Webb, a senior, picked up the Sooners lone win of the day when he toppled Jonathan Ho of Wake Forest 6-1, 6-2 in the second round of the consolation singles draw. Webb then dropped a close match to Ronnie Schneider of North Carolina 6-7, 6-7 in the quarterfinals.

In the main singles draw, Harris, a sophomore, dropped his third round match against Dominik Koepfer of Tulane, 5-7, 3-6.

OU won a total of 14 matches during the weeklong tournament, with five players in singles play and two doubles teams in contention. Sophomore Alex Ghilea totaled the most wins for Oklahoma with four.

“All in all we had a very good week,” Roddick said. “We are looking forward to regionals next week.”

The Sooners now turn their sights to the ITA Regional Championships. OU will host the Central Regional at the Headington Family Tennis Center, October 9-13.
