Doubles Pair Dropped in Round of 16

NORMAN, Okla. -- Sooners Hermon Brhane and Whitney Ritchie lost in the round of 16 at the NCAA Doubles Championship Friday at Atkins Tennis Center in Urbana, Ill.

Brhane and Ritchie, the ITA's ninth-ranked doubles pair, fell 6-4, 7-6 (5) to 22nd-ranked Rachael White and Melissa Kopinski of Illinois. White and Kopinski were playing on their home court as the University of Illinois hosted the championships.

The Sooner duo finished the spring with a 14-6 record.

It was Ritchie's second straight appearance in the doubles portion of the NCAA Championships. Ritchie teamed with then-senior Marie-Pier Huet in 2012 to qualify for the tournament.

Brhane and Ritchie were both members of the All-Big 12 Singles and Doubles Teams. Brhane was also the 2013 Big 12 Newcomer of the Year.
