NORMAN, Okla. -- The Oklahoma men's tennis team collected two ITA Central Region honors as Costin Paval was named Senior Player of the Year and Axel Alvarez Llamas won the Rookie of the Year award.

The ITA awards each of these and other honors to coaches and players from each of the 12 regions.

Paval has already collected one award this season, picking up the Big 12 Player of the Year award for the second consecutive year. Paval led the Sooners this year, holding down the No. 1 position in both singles and doubles, and winning the Big 12 regular season title for No. 1 singles.

Alvarez Llamas, a freshman from Asturias, Spain, has also already collected one award this season. He was awarded the Big 12 Co-Freshman of the Year honor along with Baylor's Julian Lenz. Alvarez Llamas won the Big 12 regular season title at the No. 4 singles position and the No. 2 doubles spot with partner Guillermo Alcorta.

Paval, Alvarez Llamas and the rest of the Sooners face third-seeded Georgia in the NCAA Sweet Sixteen Thursday at 9 a.m. CT in Urbana, Ill.
