NORMAN, Okla. — The University of Oklahoma's Andrew Harris and Alex Ghilea advanced to the main draw at the USA F27 Futures in Mansfield, Texas.
After rain halted play Tuesday, Ghilea faced Baylor's Mate Zsiga in the third and final men's singles qualifying round Wednesday. Zsiga defeated the OU freshman in straight sets 6-4, 6-4.
Despite the loss, Ghilea was placed in the men's singles main draw. The Romania native took on Germany's Vincent Thierry Schneider who eliminated Ghilea 6-0,6-3 in the first round.
Freshman Andrew Harris automatically qualified for the main draw and competed against former Virginia star Sanam Singh in the first round. After the dropping the first set 6-7(6), Harris ousted Singh 6-2, 7-6 (2).
“Andrew Harris got a great win today,” Associate Head Coach Bo Hodge said. “He beat a former top collegiate player from the University of Virginia. It's always great for our players to play these types of tournaments because it helps prepare them for their professional careers.”
Former Sooner standout Costin Paval also competed in the men's single main draw Wednesday. Paval battled Juilan Lenz in the first round and fell 6-7(4), 6-3, 6-2.

Round One Results:
