Alvarez Llamas Eliminated in Round Two

COSTA MESA, Calif. -- University of Oklahoma freshman Axel Alvarez Llamas was eliminated from the USA F25 Futures tournament today in the second round of the main draw.

Alvarez Llamas, who holds an ATP world singles rank of 1,302, faced 552^nd-ranked Dennis Lajola in a round of 16. He lost to the former University of Hawaii star 6-4, 7-6.

Alvarez Llamas beat Arthur Karagezian 6-1, 6-2 in the first round of the main draw.

In the qualifying rounds, Alvarez Llamas beat Henry Craig 6-3, 6-3, then defeated Ren Nakamura 6-0, 6-1. In the third round of qualifying, the Sooner newcomer faced teammate Nick Papac and won the match 6-3, 3-6, 6-1. He clinched his spot in the main draw after beating Clay Thompson 6-3, 6-2, Monday.

On Sept. 29, Alvarez Llamas and the majority of the team will travel to Tulsa, Okla. for the ITA All-American Championships.
