NORMAN, Okla. -- Former Sooner Laverne Jones-Ferrette finished 14th overall in the women's 100-meter dash at the Olympic Games Saturday in London.
The U.S. Virgin Islands native placed fourth in her semifinal heat, clocking 11.22 seconds.
Jamaica's Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce won gold in the women's 100, crossing the line in 10.75 seconds ahead of silver medalist Carmelita Jeter of the United States (10.78) and fellow Jamaican Veronica Campbell-Brown (10.81).
Jones-Ferrette, who set a U.S Virgin Islands national record in the event with her first-round 11.07 on Friday, was a six-time NCAA All-American while competing for the Sooners in 2003 and 2004.
Jones-Ferrette continues in track and field Monday, Aug. 6, with the preliminary heats of the 200-meter dash.
