NORMAN, Okla. -- Two Sooners competed on the last day of qualifying at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-American Championships at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla.
Freshman Axel Alvarez Llamas was eliminated in the final round of singles qualifying. He lost to Southern California's Roberto Quiroz 6-4, 6-2. ITA No. 85 Quiroz currently holds an ATP world singles rank of 696. Alvarez Llamas, no. 7 on the ITA preseason newcomer/freshman ranking, holds an ATP world singles rank of 1,227.
The duo of Axel Alvarez Llamas and Dane Webb also competed today, falling to North Florida's Moritz Buerchner and Norbert Nemcsek 9-7.
ITA No. 28 Guillermo Alcorta takes the court in the main draw Thursday, Oct. 4. Alcorta automatically qualified for the main draw after finishing his 2011-12 campaign ranked No. 2 in the Central Region.
