Women's Tennis Begins Fall Season

Sooners Head to ITA Regional Tournament

NORMAN, Okla. -- The University of Oklahoma women's tennis team will compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional Championships at the Case Center in Tulsa, Okla., this weekend.

Junior Whitney Wofford and freshman Zita Engbroks begin competition Thursday, Oct. 18 in the qualifying round.

Hermon Brhane, Mia Lancaster, Abbi Melrose and Whitney Ritchie begin main draw competition Friday, Oct. 19.

Ritchie is coming off of a doubles championship win from last year with partner Marie-Pier Huet. With that win, the tandem advanced to the 2011 USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships. Ritchie hopes to have the same success this year.
