NORMAN, Okla. – The Oklahoma women's golf team will host its only home tournament of the year, the 34th Susie Maxwell Berning Classic, this Monday through Wednesday at the par-72 Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club in Norman.

The Sooners, who jumped to No. 14 in the most recent Golfweek rankings after a sixth-place finish at last week's competitive Liz Murphey Fall Preview in Athens, Ga., won the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic last fall.

“We're really excited to host the Susie this year,” said OU head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell. “Once again we have a good field and are looking forward to Monday. We have been practicing a lot this past week and are ready to defend.”

The 18-team Susie Maxwell field features seven other teams in Golfweek's top-35: No. 15 Texas Tech, No. 17 Notre Dame, No. 26 Texas State, No. 30 SMU, No. 31 Ohio State, No. 32 Coastal Carolina and No. 33 Denver. Also competing will be No. 56 Kansas, No. 59 New Mexico, No. 61 TCU, No. 68 Kansas State, No. 72 Kennesaw State, No. 81 Tulsa, No. 85 Kent State, No. 96 South Florida, Middle Tennessee State and Redlands Community College.

Emily Collins will play in OU's No. 1 position after carding a team-best 219 (+3) at the Liz Murphey Fall Preview. The junior finished in a tie for 16th place. Collins, who also tied for seventh place in the season-opening Golfweek Conference Challenge, tied for 19th at last year's Susie Maxwell with an 8-over-par 224.

Sophomore Anne-Catherine Tanguay will play in the No. 2 spot for the Sooners. Tanguay won last year's Susie Maxwell for her first collegiate title, shooting a three-round 210 (-6) for the lowest score by an OU golfer on the season and the second lowest in school history.

Defending national champion Chirapat Jao-Javanil is competing in the No. 3 slot after posting a 226 (+10) at the Liz Murphey. Jao-Javanil, like Collins, tied for 19th at last year's Susie Maxwell.

Completing OU's line-up are senior Taylor Schmidt and junior Kaitlyn Rohrback in the No. 4 and 5 positions, respectively. Schmidt is looking for another successful Susie Maxwell after tying for eighth place last year with a 5-over 221. Rohrback is in her first season at OU after transferring from Tennessee.

Senior Jacki Marshall and junior Jade Staggs will both see their first action of the season as they play as individuals for OU.

Oklahoma won last year's Susie Maxwell crown with a 14-over-par 878. Four Sooners placed in the top-20 out of 90 competitors.

OU will tee off Monday morning starting at 9:40 along with Kent State and Redlands Community College on hole No. 1. Fans are encouraged to come out and support Drouin-Luttrell's squad, as admission is free. Live stats will be available at Golfstat.com.
