Doubles Wraps at Wildcat Invitational

NORMAN, Okla. -- University of Oklahoma women's tennis doubles pairs split games in Saturday's competition at the Wildcat Invitational in Evanston, Ill.

Oklahoma's Hermone Brhane and Whitney Wofford defeated DePaul's Patricia Fargas and Jasmin Kling, 8-6, in the Purple Draw semifinals, but fell to Northwestern's Linda Abu Mushrefova and Nida Hamilton, 8-3, in the main final.

Sooners Zita Engbroks and Abbi Melrose lost in the winner's semifinal of the White Draw, 8-6, to Iowa's Shelby Talcott and Christian Harazin. Engbroks and Melrose bounced back to win the consolation final, taking down Wisconsin's Pernilla Wohlstrom and Lauren Burich, 9-7.

Two Sooners will face each other Sunday as competition concludes with the final singles matches.

Brhane and Lancaster square off in the finals of the White Draw. Engbroks faces DePaul's Kelsey Lawson in the Blue Draw final, Melrose faces Northwestern's Hamilton in the Black Draw final and Wofford meets Minnesota's Yuliana Umanets in the Red Draw consolation final.
