NORMAN, Okla. -- Five Sooners advanced to the second round of qualifying at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-American Championships at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla. The second round and third rounds of qualifying are Tuesday, Oct. 2.
Freshmen Axel Alvarez Llamas and Leonard Stakhovsky advanced to day two of singles qualifying. Alvarez Llamas beat South Carolina's Andrew Adams 7-6, 3-6, 6-2 and Stakhovsky beat TCU's Nicholas Chappell 6-2, 6-7, 6-4.
ITA No. 57 Dane Webb beat Virginia's Julien Uriguen 6-4, 6-4, and John Warden beat Auburn's Dan Cochrane 5-7, 6-2, 6-4.
Peerakit Siributwong lost to Washington's Marton Bots 6-1, 2-6, 4-6. He will compete in the consolation round against Vanderbilt's Jeff Offerdahl Tuesday afternoon.
Two Sooner tandems will also be in action tomorrow. The duos of Webb and Alvarez Llamas and Siributwong and Stakhovsky will compete in the qualifying rounds in doubles that take place Tuesday.
No. 28 Guillermo Alcorta takes the court in the main draw Thursday, Oct. 4.
