WACO, Texas – Oklahoma newcomers Dane Webb and Guillermo Alcorta advanced to the semifinals of the WEB-Baylor Invitational after earning two wins in the singles main draw Saturday at the HEB-Baylor Invitational. The two Sooners will face a pair Baylor Bears on Sunday, Sept. 25, at the Hurd Tennis Center on the University of Baylor campus.

Webb, a freshman from Dallas, Texas, started singles competition with an upset win over Fresno State's fourth-seeded Remi Boutillier, 6-2, 3-6, 6-2. In the quarterfinals, Webb ousted Baylor's Lars Behlen in three sets. Webb will take on the No. 8 seed, Mate Zsiga, of Baylor Sunday in the semifinals.

Spanish native Alcorta opened the day with a convincing, 6-0, 6-2, win over ULL's Yanick Mandl and followed that performance with a 6-1, 6-4, over fellow ULL teammate Carlin Murray. Alcorta will challenge Baylor's No. 3 seeded Roberto Maytin Sunday.

Coming into the day five Sooners were alive in the singles main draw and all three OU duos remained in action after advancing to quarterfinal action in the doubles main draw. However, Tsvetan Mihov and Peerakit Siributwong suffered three set losses in the Round of 16 and top-seeded Costin Paval dropped a contested match to Baylor's No. 8 seed Mate Zsiga in quarterfinal action after trouncing NMSU's Marc Westgate in identical sets, 6-1.

In doubles, Paval and Webb won their first match over Arizona's Urquidi and Vidaller, 8-3, but fell in the semifinals to Iowa's No. 2 seed in Bruche and Vasos, 8-5.

OU's fourth-seeded Alcorta and Formentera also won their quarterfinal matchup against ULL's DeGoot and Mandl, 8-2, but like their teammates they too fell in semifinal action to Baylor's top-seeded Krickovic and Maytin, 8-4.
