NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma men's tennis team was selected to compete in the 2011 NCAA Championships and will host one of 16 Regional sites, announced by the NCAA Tuesday.

First and second round competition will be conducted on May 13-14, at the Headington Family Tennis Center in Norman, Okla. In addition to Oklahoma, the men's bracket consists of Texas, Tulsa and UMKC.

The winner of each site advances to the NCAA Division I Tennis Championships at the Taube Family Tennis Center in Stanford, Calif. hosted by the University of Stanford.  The team championships will be held May 19-24.

No. 20 Oklahoma vs. No. 36 Tulsa

The 20th-ranked Sooners (16-7, 5-4 Big 12) will face No. 36 Tulsa (19-7) for the second time this season in the first round of the Norman Regional. Earlier this season, OU edged then-No. 31 Tulsa, 4-3, in Norman. The Sooners hold a 31-18 overall record against the Hurricane and head coach John Roddick is 3-0 all-time.

In last year's regional, which Oklahoma hosted, the Sooners defeated the Golden Hurricane in the opening round, 4-0. OU advanced to the Round of 16 following a 4-2 victory over Texas Tech. Roddick's squad advanced to the Elite Eight after the Sooners upset then-No. 3 Texas, 4-2.

"It is exciting for us to host," head coach John Roddick said. "I also feel for Texas because they are the higher seed and they are getting shipped out, but it also says a lot about our program to be right there to step in and be the host for a regional."

  No. 14 Texas vs. UMKC

No. 14 Texas (18-8) is pitted against the Summit League Champion UMKC (16-6, 6-0 Summit League) in first round action.
