NORMAN, Okla. –The 19th-ranked Oklahoma women's tennis team heads to Fort Worth, Texas, to face No. 75 TCU on Saturday at noon.
Oklahoma (7-2) is coming off a 2-1 finish at the 2011 Blue Gray Tournament last weekend. The Sooners picked up wins over then-ranked No. 36 Alabama and No. 43 Ohio State, but lost to then-ranked No. 19 Notre Dame in the semifinals.
The Sooners moved up to No. 19 in the latest ITA team rankings. The No. 19 mark is OU's highest ranking since May 11, 2004 when OU was also ranked No. 19 and the highest under current head coach David Mullins.
Saturday's match will be OU's eighth dual against a nationally-ranked opponent, the Sooners are 5-2 against ranked teams. OU's only two losses were to top 20 teams, including defending national champion and top-ranked Stanford.
Leading the way for the Sooners is senior Ana-Maria Constantinescu. Constantinescu is individually ranked in both singles (No. 79) and doubles (No. 62 with partner Alice Radu).
Freshman Whitney Ritchie is also nationally ranked in singles, coming in at No. 124 in the latest poll released Tuesday. Ritchie has won four-straight singles matches.
This week is the first time that two Sooners have been ranked in the ITA singles poll under Mullins.
TCU (1-3) enters Saturday's match after three-straight losses to Saint Mary's, Texas A&M and Washington. Saturday will be TCU's third-straight match against a nationally-ranked opponent.
The Horned Frogs lead the all-time series with Oklahoma at 18-11, including winning the last four matchups. TCU won the last meeting of the two programs, 6-1, on March 22, 2008, in Fort Worth.
