No. 24 OU Travels to Minneapolis for Two Matches

NORMAN, Okla. – The 24th-ranked Oklahoma women's tennis team heads to Minneapolis for two road matches this weekend. OU faces No. 73 Minnesota on Friday, Feb. 11 at 5 p.m., and Oregon on Saturday, Feb. 12 at 11 a.m.

Oklahoma (3-1) moved up seven spots in the national rankings to the No. 24 spot, breaking the top 25 for the first time under head coach David Mullins.

"I am expecting another very tough challenge again tomorrow against Minnesota," Mullins said. "They are a well-coached team and I am excited to play their first home match of the year."

The Sooners are coming off their 4-3 upset over then-ranked No. 14 Arkansas last Sunday in Norman. OU's only loss this season was to defending national champion and No. 1 Stanford on the Cardinal's home court on Jan. 29.

"I hope that we can have a strong showing on both days and can head into our bye week feeling good about the last few weeks of play."

OU has won the doubles point in all four matches this season as all three OU doubles pairs are 3-1 overall. In the upset over Arkansas, OU's three freshmen each won in singles to secure the Sooner victory.

Minnesota is current 2-2, with wins over Kentucky and Marquette. OU won the last meeting with the Gophers, 4-3, on Jan. 29, 2006.

Oregon (4-0) is undefeated this season, with wins over Portland, Portland State, Iowa State and Montana. Saturday will be the first match between the two teams.
