NORMAN, Okla. – Sophomore Tsvetan Mihov won the OU Invitational Singles Championship after defeating Oklahoma State's Rifat Biktyakov in straight sets Sunday at the Headington Family Tennis Center in Norman.
Mihov downed Biktyakov 7-6 in the first set and 7-5 to close out the finals.
The Bulgaria native won four matches over the course of the three day tournament to claim the title.
In the doubles quarterfinal matchup OU's Dane Webb and Tsvetan Mihov was defeated by Arkansas' Jeske and Zogaj, 8-2. In consolation action the Sooners' Ryan Proctor and John Warden dropped their match to Nebraska's Sock and Blackwell.
Next up, the Sooners travel to Tulsa, Okla., to compete in the ITA Central Region Championships. Last year OU's Ionut Beleleu placed first followed by fellow Sooner Costin Paval.
