Formentera and Warden Claim Doubles Title

MIDLAND, Texas -- Sophomore John Warden won the Doubles Championship at the Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational Sunday, in Midland, Texas.

Formentera and Warden entered the tournament unseeded, but won four-straight matches to claim the doubles title.

The duo opened doubles play with an 8-5 win over TCU's Zach Nichols and Paul Chappal. The OU tandem then took down Texas' Ben Chen and Chris Camillone, 8-5.

In the semifinals, Formentera and Warden faced the nation's 40th-ranked duo in New Mexico's Ben Dunbar and Conor Berg. The Sooner duo took care of business with a convincing, 8-3, victory.

The Sooner tandem turned their attention to Rice's Peter Frank and Harry Fowler in the Doubles Championship, where the OU duo claimed the title following an 8-4 win.

Next up, OU will send two participants to compete in the UVa Ranked Plus One Invitational in Charlottesville, Va., Sept. 24-26.
