NORMAN, Okla. - The 31st-ranked Oklahoma women's tennis team will host "Family & Friends Day" on Saturday, April 3 at 11 a.m., as the Sooners take on arch-rival No. 36 Texas at the Headington Family Tennis Center.
Oklahoma (13-2, 3-1 Big 12) will look to beat the Longhorns for only the second time in program history.
Texas (7-4, 3-1 Big 12) currently leads the series history over OU, 20-1. The only time that a Sooner squad has beaten the Longhorns was on March 22, 2003, OU won 4-3.
"Texas has a very good team and I am anticipating our toughest home match of the season," OU head coach David Mullins said. "We hope that we will get a lot of our fans out to support the team. I believe it could make a big difference in the outcome tomorrow."
The Sooners are off to one of their best seasons in school history after 15 matches.
This season is only the fifth time in program history that an OU squad has reached the 13-2 mark.
OU is 9-0 at home, has shut out its opponent five times and has beaten four nationally-ranked opponents this season.
OU's only losses were to then-No. 1 Baylor and then-No. 20 Arkansas, both on the road.
The Sooners have won the doubles point in 11 of 15 matches (.733) and have won a combined 30 of 44 total doubles matches (.682).
In singles, OU has won a combined 63 of 89 matches (.708) and has won 53 of those 63 in straight-sets (.841).
The Longhorns will make the trip to Norman following a Friday matchup with No. 57 Oklahoma State. The Longhorns are coming off a shutout, 7-0, against Texas Tech and a 5-2 loss to No. 2 Baylor last weekend.
During "Family & Friends Day" fans in attendance will receive free food, refreshments and a chance to win a brand-new tennis racquet. Additionally, the first 75 fans will receive a free OU tennis t-shirt. The Sooners will also host an autograph session immediately following the match.
