No. 36 Sooners Crush Wichita State, 6-1

NORMAN, Okla.—No. 36 Oklahoma won its eighth match of the season Friday, defeating Wichita State at home, 6-1.
Oklahoma (8-1, 0-0 Big 12) remains undefeated at home this season, with its only loss coming to No. 15 Arkansas on the road.
"Our singles play today was probably the best I have seen all year," OU head coach David Mullins said. "We are happy to be back playing outdoors and even in some windy conditions."
OU quickly won the doubles point against the Shockers after collecting wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions.
Katelyn Connelly and Marie-Pier Huet dominated at the No. 3 doubles position, shutting out WSU's Lily Wakim and Lutfiana Budiharto, 8-0.
Tara Eckel and Maria Kalashnikova clinched the doubles point win for OU, defeating Lenore Lazaroiu and Florentina Hanisch of WSU at the No. 2 spot, 8-5.
"I thought we played some very good tennis," Mullins said. "We are looking sharp heading into Big 12 play."
The Sooners have won the doubles point in eight of nine duals this season and have won a combined 20 of 26 doubles matches.
The Sooners only losses against WSU came against the Shockers' ranked individuals at the No. 1 positions in both doubles and singles.
OU's Ana-Maria Constantinescu and Teona Tsertsvadze, ranked No. 31 nationally, came back from a 5-2 deficit to tie the match 7-7 but eventually lost to WSU's 59th-ranked Stephanie Dalmacio and Delia Damaschin at the No. 1 doubles position, 8-7(5).
Constantinescu, ranked No. 76 in singles, also lost to 39th-ranked Budiharto at the No. 1 singles position, 7-5, 6-3.
Sophomore Kristina Radan only allowed WSU's Lily Wakim one game on Friday, topping Wakim, 6-0, 6-1, at the No. 6 position.
Huet came from a 3-0 deficit in the first set to claim the Sooners' third dual point, defeating WSU's Dalmacio, 6-4, 6-2.
Eckel remains undefeated in singles this season after beating Hanisch at the No. 5 position, 6-3, 6-3.
Kalashnikova came from behind early in the first set to win the tiebreaker game, the junior eventually beat Lazaroiu of Wichita State, 7-5, 6-3.
Tsertsvadze claimed OU's sixth and final dual point on the day at the No. 4 spot. Tsertsvadze lost the first set to WSU's Damaschin but won the super-tiebreaker to get the point, 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (8).
The Sooners start a three-match road stance on March 14 as they take on College of Charleston in Charleston, S.C. at 4 p.m.
