NORMAN, Okla.—The No. 35 Oklahoma women's tennis team looks to remain unbeaten and pick up its third win over a top-40 opponent this season as the Sooners head to Fayetteville, Ark., to face Memphis on Saturday, Feb. 27, and No. 20 Arkansas on Sunday, Feb. 28.
Oklahoma (6-0, 0-0 Big 12) is off to its best season start since 2003 when OU won eight-straight matches before losing to UNLV on March 2, 2003. The Sooners have shut out their opponents in four of their six matches this season and have beaten two top-40 opponents.
The Sooners have won with consistency this season. OU has won the doubles point in all six matches this season and has won 15 of 18 doubles matches overall. In singles, the Sooners have won 30 of 36 singles matches and have won 26 of those 30 matches in straight-sets.
OU enters this weekend's matches coming off its second top-40 upset of the season. The Sooners defeated then-No. 32 Tulsa on the road, 4-3, on Feb. 17. Sophomore Marie-Pier Huet clinched the win for OU for the second year in a row. Huet also clinched OU's upset over then- No. 32 Tulsa last season on March 4, 2009.
Memphis (5-8, 0-2 CUSA) heads to Fayetteville following two losses to South Florida and Central Florida. The Tigers picked up wins against ORU, North Carolina Central, Kennesaw State, Samford and Austin Peay.
Arkansas (7-2, 0-0 SEC) returns to Fayetteville for its first home match in almost three weeks. The Razorbacks' two losses came to then-No. 19 Michigan and then-No. 60 Rice. Arkansas has beaten four teams ranked in the ITA top-75 this season, including then-No. 37 TCU and then-No. 32 Tulsa.
