NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Oklahoma women's tennis team faces North Texas on Wednesday, Feb. 3 at 3 p.m. at the Gregg Wadley Indoor Tennis Pavilion.

“I am expecting a great evening of tennis tomorrow,” OU head coach David Mullins. “North Texas gets stronger every year and it will be a very tough test for us.”

Oklahoma (2-0, 0-0 Big 12) is coming off a 10-day break, following back-to-back wins against Arkansas-Little Rock and Oral Roberts on Jan. 23.  The Sooners shut out UALR and ORU, winning both matches, 7-0.

“It is the first of many difficult matches in the month of February,” Mullins said. “I am hopeful that we will get better with each one.”

North Texas (2-1) heads to Norman following a 7-0 win against Texas-San Antonio on Sunday.   The Mean Green opened the spring with a win over Jacksonville State, before falling to Florida on Jan. 24.

OU enters the match with two nationally-ranked players. Last season's Big 12 Player of the Year, Ana-Maria Constantinescu is ranked No. 56 in ITA preseason singles and No. 39 in ITA doubles with partner Teona Tsertsvadze.

Oklahoma leads the all-time series with UNT, 7-3.  The last time UNT defeated the Sooners was in 1982. Wednesday's match marks the teams' first meeting since 1994.

Wednesday's match is one of OU's 14 home matches this season.  Admission is free to all women's tennis home tennis events.
