NORMAN, Okla. – The 44th-ranked Oklahoma men's tennis squad (2-1) hosts No. 51 Arkansas on Friday, Feb. 12, inside the Gregg Wadley Tennis Pavilion.
“Arkansas is playing well,” said head coach John Roddick. “They had two tough losses to some highly-ranked teams. They are team that has had a lot of success in the past and they are never an easy out.”
The Sooners will rely on a bevy of ranked players against the Razorbacks. Leading the way for OU is senior Andrei Daescu who checks in at No. 10 nationally. Junior Ionut Beleleu is ranked No. 59 and freshman Costin Paval debuts at No. 69.
Chris Nott is the Razorbacks only ranked player at No. 81.
The Arkansas match marks the first of six-straight home matches for the Sooners. Four of the five February opponents are ranked in the top 40.
“Considering we have a lot of new faces, playing at home in the new facility all of February is a huge help for us,” said Roddick. “I think moving forward in the season these matches will have been a great experience for us in order to get comfortable as a team.”
