TULSA, Okla. – Ionut Beleleu and Costin Paval advanced to the second round of the D'Novo/ITA All-American Doubles Main Draw, Thursday, at the Case Tennis Center.
Beleleu and Paval, ranked No. 18 nationally, joined forces to handily defeat New Mexico's Conor Berg and Ben Dunbar, 8-4, to advance to second round action Friday.
The Oklahoma duo will either face USC's 18th-ranked Steve Johnson and Daniel Nguyen or Georgia Tech's Kevin Kling and Juan Spir, ranked No. 43, in the second round Friday.
Beleleu, one of 64 individuals competing in the singles main draw, began Thursday with a win over Florida State's Vahid Mirzadeh, 6-4, 6-4, to advance to the round of 32.
However, the Romanian native did not fair as well in the second round as he fell to Georgia Tech's Guillermo Gomez, 6-1, 2-6, 6-1.
