MANSFIELD, Texas – Ionut Beleleu and Costin Paval each advanced to the Futures of Mansfield singles main draw after impressive outings in the qualifier finals, Monday, at the Walnut Creek Country Club in Mansfield, Texas. This marks the first time that two current Sooners have qualified for a Futures main draw event.

Head coach John Roddick continues to promote Sooner players in the professional circuit by sending them to ATP and USTA events like the Futures tournament. Roddick knows the importance of competing in ATP events. Prior to being named head coach at OU Roddick worked with top touring pros Andy Roddick and Mardy Fish.

Beleleu took on Nicola Remedi in the qualifying finals Monday. The Romanian native dropped the first set, 6-2, but rallied to take the following sets 6-1, 6-4. Beleleu is pitted against Denis Kudla (599 ATP) in the opening round of main draw action Tuesday.

In the qualifying finals Paval defeated Aaron Yovan in straight sets, 6-4, 7-5. The returning All-American will face Joel Kielbowicz (886 ATP) in the first round of the main draw Tuesday.

The Sooners had a third participant, Peerakit Siributwong, in the qualifying finals. However, the Oklahoma newcomer fell to former Florida star Antoine Benneteau, 6-4, 6-2.

Competing alongside the two current Sooners in the main draw is former Sooner Andrei Daescu. Daescu will take on Austin Krajicek Tuesday after defeating Alexios Halebian, 6-2, 6-3, in the qualifier finals.
