NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Oklahoma men's tennis program (1-0, 0-0) travels to Palo Alto, Calif., Friday, Jan. 29, to take on No. 44 San Diego State in the qualifying round of the National Team Indoor Championships hosted by the University of Stanford.
The ITA Kick-Off Weekend features 15 men's host sites with four teams at each site vying to advance to the Team Indoor Championships. The 15 men's teams to win both of their matches at these events will be invited to play in the National Team Indoor Championships on Feb. 12-15 in Charlottesville, Va.
“Going out to California is a great opportunity for us to start off the year and see where we are at,” said John Roddick. “San Diego State is a good measuring stick for us to see where we stand.”
Three players ranked in the top 70 lead the 45th-ranked Sooners. Leading the way for the Sooners is senior Andrei Daescu who checks in at No. 10 nationally. Junior Ionut Beleleu is ranked No. 59 and freshman Costin Paval debuts at No. 69.
Juan Gomez leads the Aztecs and is ranked No. 114 nationally.
