WACO, Texas – Junior Ionut Beleleu fell shy of winning the consolation bracket championship, Sunday, after dropping both sets to NMSU's Jim Brouleau 6-3, 7-5 at the Baylor Invitation in Waco, Texas.

Beleleu advanced to the finals after defeating Arkansas' Matt Hogan in semifinal action earlier in the day. Beleleu claimed the match by winning the first set 6-4, and the second 6-3.

“Johnny (Ionut Beleleu) did a good job of battling through the back draw and picking up some nice wins,” said head coach John Roddick.

The Sooners continue their fall tournament season at the ITA All-American tournament in Tulsa, Okla., Oct. 3-11.
