Tsertsvadze Takes Singles Title

WICHITA, Kan.—OU freshman Teona Tsertsvadze captured the Wichita State Fall Classic Flight B Singles Championship on Sunday after defeating teammate Brittany Parks, 7-6, 6-1.

Tsertsvadze and Parks faced each other in the finals after collecting three wins each in their collegiate debuts.

"Although it was a shame that Teona and Brittany had to play each other in the final, it was exciting for Teona to win her first college title," OU head coach David Mullins said.

Junior Ana-Maria Constantinescu and freshman Katelyn Connelly both ended the weekend with wins in the singles consolation brackets. Constantinescu defeated Dalmacio of Wichita State, 6-3, 6-0, while Connelly topped Arkansas State's Van Wyk, 6-0, 7-5.

"We finished very strong today," Mullins said. "It was a very productive weekend and we accomplished everything we set out to achieve this weekend."

In doubles Constantinescu and Connelly defeated Koenen and Paulson of Arkansas, 8-2, in the doubles backdraw. Parks and Tsertsvadze lost in the doubles consolation bracket to Hanisch and Lenore Lazaroiu of Wichita State, 8-2.
