Sooners Advance to Final Rounds

WICHITA, Kan.—Two Sooners advance to the Wichita State Fall Classic finals, after collecting four wins in singles on Saturday.

OU freshmen Brittany Parks and Teona Tsertsvadze, won two matches each to advance to the singles Flight B final on Sunday.

“Both Teona and Brittany had some very convincing wins today,” OU head coach David Mullins said. “They looked very comfortable in just their second day of collegiate competition.”

Parks defeated OSU's Leyla Simmons, 6-1, 6-2, to advance to the final round after defeating Alisa Buslaieva of OSU in the quarterfinals, 7-6 (2), 6-1.

Tsertsvadze only lost four total games between two matches. The freshman defeated Adrianna Nieto of Arkansas, 6-0, 6-2, in the quarterfinals, before topping Tina Ojdanic of Arkansas State, 6-0, 6-2 in the semifinals.

Junior Ana-Maria Constantinescu extended her conference-win streak to 17 after a comeback win in the singles Flight A quarterfinals against OSU's Sasha Belova, 1-6, 7-5, 6-4. Constantinescu then lost to Wichita State's Budiharto in the semifinals, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.

Freshman Katelyn Connelly won in the singles Flight A backdraw quarterfinals, defeating Kansas State's Natasha Vieria, 6-1, 6-1. Connelly lost to Lazaroiu of Wichita State in the backdraw semifinals, 6-1, 6-3.

In doubles, Constantinescu and Connelly fell to Sasha Belova and Nataliya Shatkovskaya of Oklahoma State, 8-6, in the semifinals.

Parks and Tsertsvadze defeated Alisa Buslaieva and Iryna Khatsko of Oklahoma State in the backdraw doubles quarterfinals, 8-6.
