NORMAN, Okla. – The 34th-ranked University of Oklahoma men's tennis team (11-7, 1-3 Big 12) hosts No. 31 Oklahoma State for its annual Bedlam brawl, Saturday, April 11, at the Headington Family Tennis Center.

“We are excited to compete in another Bedlam match,” OU head coach Paul Lockwood said. “OSU has great teams every year and they are anchored by the No. 1 player in the nation.”

The Sooners are following consecutive victories over No. 40 Rice and No. 55 Nebraska. Both matches ended with identical scores, 4-3. Following these matches OU made a significant jump in the latest ITA team rankings. The Sooners jumped seven spots, from No. 41 to No. 34. With a win over Oklahoma State this weekend the Sooners look to jump back into the top-25, a feat that was last accomplished in 2007.

In order to gain a win over in-state rival OSU, OU will rely on junior Andrei Daescu ranked, No. 65 nationally. Daescu will battle the nation's top-ranked player in OSU's Oleksandr Nedovyesov.

Daescu and sophomore David Pultr combine forces in doubles action to comprise of the 45th-ranked doubles team in the country. The OU duo is 11-1 on the spring season and 4-0 in Big 12 action. OSU also boasts a ranked duo, No. 16 nationally, in Nathan Byrnes and Nedovyesov.

“I believe my players have been playing very well over the last month and I know we will be ready to play,” Lockwood said. “We are excited.”
