NORMAN, Okla.--The University of Oklahoma women's tennis team will play two matches at home this weekend, facing Kansas on Friday, March 27, and Kansas State on Sunday, March 29.
Oklahoma (6-9, 0-4 Big 12) returns home to Norman after a four-match road series, all against ranked opponents. Oklahoma has played 12 of its 15 matches on the road and eight of those matches against ranked opponents. The Sooners hold a 3-0 record in home matches this season against Texas-Pan American, Oral Roberts and Oklahoma Baptist. The Sooners swept all three matches, winning all three matches, 7-0.
The Sooners look to earn their first conference wins against Kansas and Kansas State. Oklahoma has played four Big 12 matches this season, all against then-ranked opponents including No. 27 Texas and then-No. 36 Texas A&M.
Friday's match begins at 6 p.m. with doubles competition, Sunday's match will begin at 1 p.m. Both matches will be held at the Headington Family Tennis Center.
THE OPPONENTS
The Jayhawks (6-8, 1-3 Big 12) enter Friday's match following a two-match losing streak, falling to both Missouri and Colorado, 5-2. Kansas holds the series advantage with a 19-15 record against Oklahoma. Oklahoma pulled out a 4-3 win against the Jayhawks the last time the two met in Norman on April 18, 2007.
Kansas State (3-7, 0-3 Big 12) heads to Norman following a five-match losing streak. The Wildcats were swept, 7-0, in their last match against Colorado on March 22. Oklahoma holds a 21-11 series advantage against the Wildcats and hasn't lost to Kansas State at home since 2001.
