NORMAN, Okla. -- The University of Oklahoma men's tennis team (4-3) travels to Las Vegas, Nev., to compete against Northern Arizona University (1-8) on Friday, Feb. 27, before taking on UNLV (8-2) on Saturday, Feb. 28.
The Sooners are continuing their road tour after suffering their third loss of the season at No. 47 Arkansas, 5-2 on Feb. 20. OU's three losses have all been on the road against teams ranked in the top-50 nationally.
“We are excited to get back out on the court after our loss against Arkansas,” head coach Paul Lockwood said. “It will be our first outdoor matches of the season. We have only had a handful of days to practice outside, but we will be ready, they had a good week of practice.”
OU, No. 56 in the ITA top-75, will face tough competition in Las Vegas. UNLV, currently ranked No. 75 nationally, has won its last three matches.
The Sooners are led by junior Andrei Daescu, who ranks No. 59 nationally and No. 5 in the ITA Central Region.
Daescu and the rest of the Sooners will face Elliott Wronski of UNLV, ranked No. 98 in singles competition, as well as the 46th-ranked duo of Wronski and Luca Barlocchi.
“Hopefully we will play well and come back with two wins,” Lockwood said.
