NORMAN, Okla. – Men's tennis head coach John Roddick announced the addition of Lawrence Formentera (Colton, Calif./Gorman Learning Center) to the 2010 squad.
Formentera, a spring arrival, has a five-star rating on TennisRecruiting.net and ranked as high as No. 8 nationally and third in the state of California. This past year Formentera was a doubles finalist at the United States Tennis Association Spring Nationals and in 2008 he won the California Bowl Championships.
“We could not be more pleased to have a player of Formentera's caliber join our program,” said John Roddick. “Our goal is to get the top American tennis prospects and Fromentera is one of the top guys in the country.”
In addition, Formentera ranks as the No. 9 player by the USTA and was ranked second in 2007, the same year he won the Easter Bowl National Championship.
Formentera joins Oklahoma product John Harry Warden in the class 2009.
