Constantinescu and Radu Ready for Nationals

Constantinescu Eliminated in ITA

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif.--Oklahoma's Ana-Maria Constantinescu was eliminated from the 2009 ITA Riviera/All-American Tournament after dropping two matches in the singles qualifying round on Tuesday. 

In the singles qualifying main draw, No. 71 ranked Constantinescu fell to No. 53 Alison Ramos of USC after winning the first set, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4. 

Constantinescu then lost to No. 72 Sonya Molnar of Iowa in the qualifying consolation round, 6-2, 7-6(5).

Constantinescu qualified for the 2009 ITA Riviera/All-American Tournament after earning the No. 71 ITA preseason ranking.  Constantinescu jumped more than 20 spots from last year's preseason rankings after going undefeated in conference play and earning the Big 12 Player of the Year award in her sophomore season. 

The OU women's tennis team will continue its fall season on Oct. 9-11 at the Wildcat Invitational in Evanston, Ill.
