Constantinescu Falls to Top-10 Opponent

BERKELEY, Calif.—Junior women's tennis player Ana-Maria Constantinescu finished 1-1 on day one of the Cal Nike Invitational, falling in round two of the tournament to a top-10 opponent. 

In the first round of the ITA A Singles Main Draw, No. 71 ranked Constantinescu defeated Alex Zaniewski of Santa Clara University, 6-1, 6-2. 

Constantinescu then faced Arizona State's Kelcy McKenna who is ranked No. 7 nationally in preseason singles and was also a 2009 ITA All-American.  Constantinescu lost to McKenna in the second round, 6-1, 6-4. 

Constantinescu will continue competition in the ITA A Singles Consolation bracket on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. PST.
