Constantinescu Earns ITA Bid

Norman, Okla.- OU's Ana-Maria Constantinescu has been selected to compete in the qualifying round of the 2008 Riviera/ITA All-American Tournament held at the Riveria Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif., Sept. 30-Oct.1.
"I am really excited to compete in the All-American Tournament. All the top players in the country will be there, so it is an opportunity to play against them,” Constantinescu said. “Most importantly, I am proud to represent the University of Oklahoma in this prestigious tournament."
The tournament selection is by invitation only and is based on national ranking. Constantinescu was one of 64 players to be selected.
"All-Americas is one of the premier individual collegiate events of the year. Ana-Maria has a tremendous opportunity to compete against the top players in the country,” OU head coach Dave Mullins said. “This will be the first step Ana-Maria takes in trying to make the individual NCAA tournament next May."
Eight players from the qualifying round will advance to the main draw to compete for the championship Oct. 2-5 at the Riveria Tennis Club.
