NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women's tennis team (10-9, 3-5) heads into its final week of regular season play as the Sooners host in-state rival No. 68 Oklahoma State University (9-8, 3-5) on Wednesday, April 16, at the Headington Family Tennis Center. Bedlam is set to begin at 2 p.m.
"We are really looking forward to playing OSU," OU head coach Mark Johnson said. "It is always a fun match and playing it at home is even better. We are really looking forward to a great crowd."
Wednesday will mark the 42nd time the Bedlam showdown has taken place with Oklahoma State holding a 26-16 series lead.
The last meeting between the two teams came April 11, 2007, in Stillwater as the Cowgirls edged the Sooners 4-3.
Oklahoma enters Wednesday's match-up after going 1-1 on the road this past weekend. The Sooners fell 6-1 to Baylor on Friday, before upsetting No. 64 Texas Tech 5-2, on Sunday.
Freshman Tara Eckel was the only Sooner to record singles' wins in both duals. The Dallas, Texas native has won five consecutive matches at the No. 6 spot.
"Tara has really been playing great," Johnson said. "I'm very pleased with how she is improving."
OSU comes to Norman after falling 5-2 to Baylor on Sunday, April 13. The loss put an end to the Cowgirls three-match win streak.
All fans in attendance Wednesday will receive free popcorn, while the first 50 fans will receive a free OU tennis t-shirt.
