NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women's tennis team (9-8, 2-3) makes its final regular season road trip this weekend as they travel to Waco, Texas, Friday, April 11, and Lubbock, Texas, Sunday, April 13.
The Sooners will take on No. 6 Baylor, beginning at 6 p.m. Friday.
Oklahoma enters the contest after going 1-1 at home last weekend. The Sooners defeated Iowa State University 7-0, Friday, April 4, before they were edged 4-3, Sunday, April 6, by Nebraska.
Baylor is currently 22-3 on the season and 8-0 in Big 12 play. They are led at the No. 1 position by senior Zuzana Zemenova. The Slovakian is currently ranked No. 24 in the ITA national singles rankings. In doubles play, Zemenova pairs with sophomore Lenka Broosova. The duo ranks No. 2 in the ITA national rankings.
Oklahoma and Baylor last met on March 9, 2007, when the Lady Bears walked away with a 7-0 win over the Sooners in Norman.
"Baylor has a very strong team," OU head coach Mark Johnson said. "We will have to play very tough and never let up. It will be a challenge but a fun one. We are looking forward to playing them."
Before returning to Oklahoma, the Sooners will stop in Lubbock, Texas, to take on the 64th-ranked Red Raiders Sunday at 12 p.m.
The Lady Raiders are currently 11-7 on the season and 4-3 in conference play.
The Sooners edged TTU 4-3, in their last meeting, which took place March 3, 2007.
"Texas Tech has been playing well." Johnson said. "I think it will be a great match."
