NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women's tennis team (6-3) opens Big 12 play this weekend when it hosts No. 18 Texas (5-2) and No. 26 Texas A&M (6-3) at the Headington Family Tennis Center.
The Sooners open Saturday, March 15, when they go head-to-head with the University of Texas at 11 a.m. Sunday's match against the Aggies is set to begin at 1 p.m.
Saturday's match will mark the 20th meeting of the Red River rivals. Texas currently holds an 18-1 series lead over OU. The Sooners last met the Longhorns on March 25, 2007 in Norman. The Sooners fell 6-1.
Texas will come to Norman after facing Oklahoma State on Friday.
"Texas has a great program and they have been playing very well," OU head coach Mark Johnson said. "It will be a good challenge for us."
It will be the 22nd time OU has faced A&M, and the Sooners are 4-17 all-time against the Aggies. The two teams last met on March 24, 2007, in College Station, where Oklahoma fell 6-1.
"A&M is always a tough team," Johnson said. "This weekend will be a good test for our team."
