NORMAN, Okla. -- The University of Oklahoma women's tennis team will travel to Wichita, Kan., Friday, Feb. 15, to take on 34th ranked Wichita State University at Crestview Country Club's indoor facility.
Matches begin at 6 p.m.
This will mark the 23rd time the teams have met, with the Sooners leading the all-time series 21-1. The Sooners last faced the Shockers in 2005, when Oklahoma took a 7-0 victory.
OU has a 4-1 record this season, including a 2-1 mark on the road. Led by freshman Ana-Maria Constantinescu, the Romanian is perfect this spring with a 4-0 record at the No. 1 singles position and a 4-0 record teamed with senior Chelsea Orr at No. 1 doubles.
"I really like how consistent Ana has been," OU head coach Mark Johnson said. "She has such a great presence on and off the court."
The Sooners are also receiving support from freshman Maria Kalashnikova. The Tilibisi, Georgia, native has played at the No. 2 and 3 spots for Oklahoma, earning a 4-1 record.
"It has been nice to have these young girls come in and adjust so quickly," Johnson said. "It really gives the team some flexibility."
The trip to Wichita will be Oklahoma's final road match before returning to the Sooner State for a six consecutive matches. OU plays a non-conference dual versus Alabama Saturday, Feb. 23, at The Greens Golf and Country Club in Oklahoma City.
OU then takes on in-state rivals Oral Roberts University and Tulsa University in Norman before opening Big 12 play against Texas on March 15 and Texas A&M on March 16.
