NORMAN, Okla. -- University of Oklahoma vice president for intercollegiate athletics programs and director of athletics Joe Castiglione and head coach David Mullins announced the women's tennis schedule for the 2009 spring season Monday.
OU will host Texas-Pan American for its opening match January 24 in Oklahoma City at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club.
The Sooners then hit the road February 1-March 4 for a series of road matches beginning in Little Rock and ending in Tulsa. The Sooners will face the University of Arkansas-Little Rock, Alabama, Wichita State, Penn State, Purdue, Wisconsin, Missouri and Tulsa on the road.
"This young team faces a lot of difficult road trips, especially early on in the season. Those tough matches away from home will serve us very well late in the season,” Mullins said. “We are all extremely eager to get the season underway."
OU will then return to Norman on March 8 for a double-header against Oral Roberts and Oklahoma Baptist University.
The Sooners will then face Colorado, University of Nevada-Las Vegas, Texas and Texas A&M on the road before returning to Norman to face Kansas on March 27 and Kansas State on March 29.
OU will then travel to Iowa State, Nebraska and Oklahoma State and will finish the season with two home matches against Baylor and Texas Tech.
OU will host the 2009 men's and women's tennis Big 12 Championships April 23-26.
