Daescu Continues to Roll

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Oklahoma men's tennis fall season finished at the ITA National Indoor Championships Friday afternoon as junior Andrei Daescu fell to 3rd ranked Daniel Vallverdu of Miami, 6-4, 6-2.

Vallverdu advanced to the final four defeating Southern California's Robert Farah, 7-6 (5), 2-6, 6-1 in his second match.

Daescu was one of the final sixteen out of nearly 10,000 players to participate in the Wilson/ITA Regional and National Intercollegiate Championships.

The Oklahoma men's team finished the fall with a 27-17 record, with four of six players finishing with winning records led by sophomore Ionut Beleleu's 9-2 record.

The Sooners also finish with two players ranked by the ITA in the top 125, Daescu at No. 22 and Senior Sergey Avdeyev at No. 122.
